My 15 year old daughter has been through a couple knives.A Ka-bar Dozier folder and now has a Byrd Meadowlark g10.
Today while walking around waiting for a pizza ,she said she wanted a pink bone handle knife. I'm a modern folder /fixed blade guy, but recently have been looking at alot of gentlemans knives for a new suit job.Something must have caught her eye because she said, I want the kind with out a pocket clip but I dont want two blades..I realized she wanted a traditional, Surprising but cool....After further discussion it seems she wants a traditional, single blade, lockback with natural pink handle..bone/stag.Has anyone seen these??I figured between all the usa makers sites I've been to this would be easier.
I'd settle for purple .Any Ideas?

I think Rough Rider or Colt make a pink bone lockback.
Rich

Just checked, yes, Rough Rider makes several single blade pink bone lockbacks.

Check out Rough Rider knives. I can't say for sure it was bone, but I saw a pink handled knife of theirs.

I know I've seen Buck knives in pink camo synthetic, but they may have all been OHO.

Have a look at the rough rider little mustang lock back in pink bone ..

Case did one of their Limited Edition runs (I think it was XXVII in maybe 2011) in a jigged bone they called "Watermelon." Definitely pink and I believe they did a Copperlock in that run.

Yup as already been said, Rough Rider is probably the most prolific with pink models. But I have seen a pink Case single blade lockback, Harley Davidson edition.

Not to belabor the point, but Case has these "bubba gum" handles on a copperlock and a mini copperlock, and I think the blades are etched with something like "Lady Case." OK, I'm done. ;-)

Bladeforums to the rescue! Thanks for these great suggestions. I like the Case options best.I like the color of the Bubba Gum better than watermelon, however from the looks of prices I'm seeing the bubba gum is quite a bit more collectable. So I guess I'm going to try to find a deal on a bubbagum full size copperlock but can always fall back to the watermelon if not.thanks! (i would never found these)

Get 2 ! I have 2 different pink jigged bone Rough Rider LB's and they are well put together & truly shaving sharp. Maybe get a Case & RR and let her choose and then you get the other. Nice father-daughter sharing.

I have limited experience with traditionals.I did however have a late 90's pocket worn red jigged bone Copperlock, that was never carried then sold.I would however take it out and handle it quite a bit. I also observe the traditional forums here and there.I have seen alot of talk about Case not being as good as they used to with FnF and such. I was always AMAZED at the material quality and PERFECTION of that Copperlock.Dead centered.Tight lock and detent, beautiful materials it was like a piece of jewelry and it was only $50. I have never seen a GEC (although i want a #47 viper). It will be interesting to see if it really gets any better.I have never seen a canal street or any usa brands in person. So I am a Case fan i guess lol and she loved that copperlock,we called it a pirates knife because if the blade shape.
She usually doesn't even get a knife yearly and never one so far over $25 so I want something special.
The rough riders may be something I would try for myself since I buy alot more than one knife yearly lol
Again I have never seen them but have read good things on here about them. When i see how inexpensive they are I always think its going to be of a low quality, obviously I don't expect the same knife as something 5x's more money..but something that stays together and feels nice. I think I may be pleasantly surprised, from what i see of RR on here. I'll give em a spin.

Not quite pink, but these orange GEC #83's might fit the bill as well:

I saw those in other handle material on KSF site. They absolutely fit the bill and are at the high end of what shes ready for and would definitely be something special that orange camel bone really almost has a natural tone i swear i see some pink tones in there ..
I have time to decide or track one down.
SO does GEC or any production traditional makers have a "custom" department where you can order whatever handle materials and such that you want for just a single knife?? I dont think I'm going to do all that as any of these choices in the whole thread would thrill her but its made me wonder.
Also how do I get that GEC illustrated is it emailed? I couldnt find their email list signup

Yes, the low price of RR's is confusing. I cannot figure out how any knife could be made, shipped & marketed for those prices.
But, they are very good knives, period. I have about 200 of them. None have any serious problems. No blade play in any of them. All arrived shaving sharp. I could go on but you get the point. Forget the price, buy a few different ones & see for yourself. The RR's are the only thing i have ever experienced that are "too good to be true" but are true.

yep, what koot said.
i've had green, orange, red and white but no pink Rough Riders.
should try one just to see for yourself.
Case for sure makes a pink copperlock. Case knives are pretty high quality imho.

My 15 year old daughter ... she said she wanted a pink bone handle knife. ... Any Ideas?

I hear some guys complain that a lot of the knives Case says are "red" actually come out of the dye somewhat pinkish.* So maybe hand-pick one of their pinker "red" knives at a brick-and-mortar store.

Maybe a pocket-worn old red bone TrapperLock, lockback or Sway Back Gent?

Or perhaps a dark red Slimline Trapper, RussLock or Mini CopperLock.

Be sure to let us know what she ends up with, and how she likes it! :)

One more suggestion and food for thought...
It's not a lockback (but locking anyway), and it's an awesome knife (in any color):

I appreciate all the ideas..I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a bubba gum CASE....Just want to find it in full size copperlock so that might take awhile..If the prices are too inflated on that one ,I'll go watermelon.
I like that opinel ! I might get her that too.Kind of like rough rider.People rant and rave about opinel and they are so affordable...I have to try it! Oh man my wife already says I buy too many knives and now I'm going to start a collection for my daughter too.

I will let everyone know what I decide and update this post with pics and info of the outcome but it will be a little while, still waiting on background check and training for new job ,big pay increase from previous after being out of work two months.

Got all excited, thought I read PICK Bone LB

Good luck in finding your daughter a Pink knife though. Mark's suggestion at looking at some of CASE's 'red' bone is worth looking into-it's bright stuff! I'm wondering if White Bone (again RR has many good LBs) could be dyed pink using fruit acids or colouring?

thanks, Will
