Pink Izula "Non Threatening"?

Hi Folks,

I recently put in an order for a Pink Izula. Partly because I wanted to get into paracord wrapping, and partly because it's 3 in the morning and I just felt a sudden urge to bring a pink knife to work to break the monotony of my vicious looking monster blades(Super Karambit, CQC-7, ZT 0301, Talwar). I was also looking for a sort of "what the ****?" reaction:eek:. Plus, it's 1095 carbon steel for just 50 bucks.

Thing is, I'm wondering how threatening the appearance is. Certainly no more than the previously mentioned knives, but I typically don't pull those out even at work, and certainly not where customers can see them. The pink color would throw people off. I understand orange and yellow are "safe" colors, but mostly because those colors cause people to ignore the features of the knife. Pink just sort of says "look at me". The round hole and black paracord wrap(only have the one color) might leave some unwanted impressions.

So hypothetically speaking, if a customer were to ask me to cut something for them and I use the Izula, would I get a "that's cute", "what the heck?", or "HE'S GOT A KNIFE!!!" ...?

I currently use a Dozier Buffalo River Hunter for that, and nobody makes a remark about it either way. I assume it's because there's nothing to draw any special attention to the knife. Even with the mirror polish on the entire blade, it just looks like "a knife".

You will probably get a "thats cute" reaction from the ladies and guys would say "what the heck"

I couldn't see anyone giving you "HES GOT A KNIFE!!!" reaction for a pink izula.

Most non knife people haven't seen a skeletonized neck knife much less an Izula. The pink color will attract even more attention but I think in a good, non-threatening way. I think you'll have fun with it.

"HE'S GOT A KNIFE!!!" ..."

"Ha ha that's not a knife"...... (pull out big bowie).... "Now that's a knife"......

:) :) :)

Less threatening? I was looking at a Pink Spyderco the other day and was wondering "why would anyone buy that". I think I might have at least one now answer now.

Eh...I carry a Strider SMF at work and I work in a hotel. No one says a damn thing. So really I think doing something like getting a pink knife is overboard and unnecessary.

So get you some pink camo paracord! A fifty foot length won't cost you much. I bought some when I made some paracord lanyards and asked my wife what color she wanted (all I had was OD at the time). She wanted pink. Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets.

The reaction you get from others will have everything to do with the WHOLE package.

The color is a tiny component of the whole. How you use it, how you display it, how you act, and most of all....all the concepts the other guy has floating around in his/her head.

Your actions will speak far louder than the color of the knife. Even then, nothing you do will calm the emotions of the person that has the most irrational fears of bladed tools.

I've been carrying a pink Izula for about 9 months, and everybody who sees it thinks it's funny or cute. I'm in the Army, so the situation isn't identical to yours, but I am deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; which just stopped stocking anything except Multi-tools and SAKs at it's PXs because real knives are "too dangerous" (according to the PX manager.):barf:

I wear it behind the back with a Tek-Lok, so it's pretty obvious whenever I'm not wearing a top.

from my experience, the reactions are actually quite boring. most people see it and definitely look at it, but don't say anything. I suppose that's the reaction you would want though - as long as it's not the 'you're a murdering psycho' stare. I've had a couple "I like your knife" from girls, but strangers who are guys never commented on it. I think it takes them longer to process what they're looking at, like a lion in a clown suit.

my friends(also non-knife people) who got a chance to take a close look and play with it did ask why I got a pink knife, but do like the idea once I explain.

That is just utterly sad....knives are to dangerous....as if you guys dont have bigger issues to worry about.....

Nice set up you have there! What is in the Benchmade and other pouch (really digging it BTW what is it?) if you dont mind me asking?

Thanks! The Benchmade pouch holds a rescue hook (which has never been used for it's intended purpose, but is awesome for cutting open plastic wrap on pallets.) The other pouch is a Maxpedition Single Sheath with a Gerber EOD multitool inside.

If pink has an effect, I think that it is to distract them from whatever well-rutted mental track they were about to go down...

One guy talkin'...

Interesting comments. I'm thinking of buying a pink Izula for the visibility. if I drop it on a forest floor then it will be easier to spot.

When some coworkers saw my pink Manix 2, they were all a bit confused to say the least. The knife itself is a rather bad ass looking but the color just threw them off and they didn't know how to react. It's like the AK-47 Kalashinikitty.
