Pink Native!

Well, a friend asked me Friday to recommend a knife, and it made a good excuse this afternoon to play around with some of my modest collection, and I found myself looking back and forth between the BF Blue Native and one of the new Pink Crickets, and it got me to thinking...

Wouldn't the Native look really cool in the shocking pink zytel that we've seen a bit of around here lately? Wouldn't it contrast nicely to the blue Native? Since the clips are reversible, you can wear one on each side...

Wouldn't it be nice to have this little go-anywhere-do-anything knife available in the color voted most likely to let you be allowed to take it anywhere (notwithstanding the smirks of airport security, et.al.)?

And since pink and blue are the traditional colors associated with babies, now you can use the birth of a child (be it yours, a relative's, coworker's, or just that of someone who lives in the same ZIP code as you) to easily manufacture a flimsy excuse to explain to family members why you need to buy a pink Native (completing your set, or both pink and blue, if you haven't got your BF Native yet)

(My apologies to those who thought, however briefly, that the thread title meant such a thing was available. Void where prohibited. Substantial penalty for early withdrawal. Whereever you go, there you are.)

Just wanted to add my vote. I'm always up for another Native. Just contemplating adding one of the SS Natives II's to my collection now. I heard that they are being manufactured again. I wonder if they are still in AUS-10...

But that is another topic.

O_D - Yes Stainless Natives are back in production, though not high volume. They are still AUS-10. I think they are nicer than the earlier ones. Production is very limited though and we're heavily backordered so you may have to hunt around for one.

I think that a pink Native would be very striking, and quite an attention getter. Not to mention easy to find if it fell out of your pocket in the woods or some where. So I would probably buy one. At the same time pink would sort of clash with my clothing so I probably would not carry it with me very much. Black is dull but it does blend into my clothing well.

Let's come back to reality folks. They wouldn't sell all that well...

Eeeeeeeuuuuuuuuucccckkkkk!!! PINK Native?? - NOT. That is the sound my toddler makes when she finds something really gross/dirty and then proceeds to throw it into the trash

LOL....I have a PINKY Cricket and Delica, but wouldn't want a pink Native. If the Native were Chartreuse, or blaze orange I would buy it!! High visibility is otay, but pink isn't my choice of color. My wife would LOVE a PURPLE Spyderco

....LOL.

Sal,

Would it be possible to do a Zytel Native in a TIE-DYED pattern?? Bright neon like colors - what do you guys think? Just a though, or ws it a nightmare?!

....LOL.

Ooooh, maddog2020, I like that -- swirl multiple colors in and get tiedyed knife handles... I'd really like to see that in the traditional rainbow tiedye T shirt colors, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, all swirled together

My wife would like a purple one also. Pink does not sound like too bad a choice though.

I have a friend who gives all of his kids a knife for their eighth birthday, after the proper instruction. His daughter wanted to know where was her knife on her birthday. So dad went out and got her a pink Swiss Army. That was the only pink knife he could find.

Brian: my original thought was the same shocking pink Zytel that's recently been seen on Crickets and Delicas. Makes a really useful knife that people will smirk at, rather than recoil from. Sometimes that's a good thing. And might make it more appealing to non-knife(-yet) people (especially if it was plain-edge).

Ewok: Thanks, and if that's really pink chalk (or whatever) rather than photoshop, you have my sympathy...

It's Photoshop, although having some of the blue showing through does make it look strange.
