Pink Rats ?

I kind of liked the contrast between the black blade and pink grips/scales, that I saw in some pink Rat1 pics. They should also be high visibility along with my blaze orange, when I want that, while getting lost in the bush. :D I also have them in dull/dark tones for in town carry. Of course my initial response back when I first saw them was knee jerk negative. But isn't this just a socialized response drilled into us since childhood ? Anyway, I have three Rat 1's coming in and two are pink. It will be interesting to see if my mind is still open when I handle them.

Two pink Rat 1's and a coyote brown came in. I wanted a black blade coyote to easily differentiate it from my satin blade in D-2. The pinks are indeed high viz and will go along with a blaze orange I have. One more blaze orange and I should have enough high viz. 1's. I might grab one or two Rat2's in blaze. It is easy for me to drop or knock a cutting tool into the snow or brush in cold weather..... I took a pink out to the lake, along with the warden, and made a fire in the frozen frosted up wood pile. The Rat sliced like a razor. Cheap, high viz, works great, no pain if dropped in a lake.

I have a few pink, orange and yellow handle knives. High visibility is a plus always. Also, bright colors seem to give peace of mind to non-knife people who still see blades as weapons instead of tools.

My one and only Rat 2 is pink.

Yes sir, there where many positive factors in getting a few pinks, once I examined my own personal biases.

I also read somewhere that some brands (Spyderco and Benchmade if I recall correctly) gave some of the benefits from their pink handled knife sales to breast cancer research funds... or something along those lines. I don't know if that also applies to Ontario RATs...

I prefer orange as it sticks out enough for me, but im not against pink. have a pink Buck bantam.. it was on sale and dirt cheap and what do i care, it cuts and works fine. given a choice I'm pickin orange though.

Yes, I prefer blaze, but I'm kind of blazed out. The pinks where kind of an experiment. It's hilarious as I was going to get one, then they were sold out while I was getting various colours. Then they came back and I grabbed two lol ! I figured that a few ladies that I know would be fine with them if I couldn't deal. But I don't really care. They are just cheap high viz users. I like the black contrast actually. Pink is kind of like a serrated edge to me. I have a low number of serrated blades. But they where specificaly chosen in serrated......... I'm switching hobby focus right now but one of these days I'll likely grab a black bladed blaze R2D2 in an order. I went through another buying streak and I still have machetes that have never been taken out from 2-3 years ago. It gets kind of weird to me when I slide from buying to use, to buying just to buy.

lol. My wife is a Hockey and Baseball phreak and I can barely watch it. I grew up with a fishing rod in one hand, and a .22 in the other. Curling ? I would find staring at rocks as they slowly dissolved to dust more stimulating, lol. But I guess that I'm pretty weird anyway as I'm totally obsessed with metal detecting. I admit that being in the remote Boreal forest searching for the remnants of 1700's fur trade activity, with a Becker Brute on my hip, presses the right buttons for me. Last year it was a Condor Undertaker. No one to judge other than a bear, grouse or moose lol.
