Just a question...
Any logical reason the Atlantic/Pacific series with H1 utilize a pinned construction rather than a screw construction. Can't believe H1 or a similar steel can't be used in a screw.

I think it is because there is really no reason to need to take them apart. There are no liners to clean and the steel won't rust. Also, I would think pinning knives together is cheaper.

They do have screw construction (now). The early models had the pinned construction. They switched to torx screws a few years ago.

Really? Interesting...even my most recent Atlantic (purchased last june) is pinned.

Screw construction is actually relatively new,in some models like the Manix2 L/W I still prefer pinned construction with the adjustable pivot screw. Eric Glesser did an outstanding job designing the L/W and the more I use it the better I like it.

I completely agree. The LW is a brilliant design, and imho might be up there with the top five Spydercos.

Guess I was more surprised to see a pin constructed knife this day in age, when there is simply no reason for it; especially since nearly every other model in the lineup has been screw construction for many years already. BTW it was purchased from a major sporting goods retailer in the newest packaging...IDK maybe NOS from spyderco?

You mean the pivot is pinned? My Pacific Salt has a screw pivot. I've had it for more than a year.

Yes, the entire knife is of pin construction including the pivot...Its not like theres much to maintain, although id still love to be able to service the guts & adjust blade tension.
