Pinned Vantage?

I've had quite a few Vantages over the years. I recently bought another Vantage Force Pro, and just took it apart and found out it has pinned construction so I can't clean it and maintenance it. Is this common? I absolutely detest pinned construction for a reason.

It's fine. It's a knife not an M16.
A nearly $100 knife with permanently meh action isn't fine to me. I finally got it dialed in to flip, but if the detent softens any it will require a lot of wrist.

Funny side effect of the pinned construction though is that with the pivot completely loosened the blade doesn't rub and has almost no play. Haven't seen that in a flipper before.

When I opened my vantage up to find the pinned construction I wasnt thrilled either. The older ones weren’t pinned. The switch also happened at the same time they switched the original vantage from full scales to nylon with inserts. I wasnt happy about that either. Cost savings??

What do you mean nylon with inserts? I have an older screw construction Vantage Select (with PB washers, apparently that's not done any more either).

I fully disassembled my screw together vantage and upon completed reassembly totally messed up the smoothness. Probably a bushing on the rough side.

Maybe, I do like to strip Buck screws.:p
Yea easy to do if you don't have a Good T6 :D But I meant where the blade rides on the pivot screw can get worn from dirt and what ever and can make for a gritty opening and closing as well as worn washers. But with the new pinned models we can just send them back to Buck if they get gritty :p it's not as easy to put the blade and washers back in on the pinned models.

Probably why they changed to pinned, so folks don't mess with someth'n they don't need to be. ;-) LOL
Probably is why  but on the other hand it's very simple design and so much faster and easy to take apart to clean grit out if it happens cause it will if you carry and use enough. It's happened to me and sometimes WD40 , Hot Water and Soap, and even compressed Air just won't smooth things up :). But I totally understand the problem Buck may have experienced with people taking there Knives apart  for what it's worth I've been carrying a pinned S30V Vantage everyday now for over a year without any issues
