Man, I think I am about to score some old saw blades. Not just any old saw blades, either. These saw blades are about 5 feet diameter, and 1/4" wide!! I do a scrounge mission about every 2 weeks at my favorite steel company. They have a huge CNC saw that turns those huge blades. Its essentially a gigundis horizontal slitter blade. Well, those blades are just sitting there rusting away and I have a message to the company prez to see if I can have them. I should know in an hour or so.

Oh yeah, there is a 6 inch stack of them on a pallet...

Any ideas as to what they are? L-6 you think?

I would guess that they are L6, but that is just a guess. They're probably that or something similar. A good friend of mine works at a sawmill that recently got a new saw, and the blades from the old saw won't fit the new one. He brought me a big stack of brand new blades for the old saw. I quench tested a strip from one, and it wouldn't get hard. I even tried a warm water quench. The blades have braised-on carbide teeth, and the rest of them must be mild steel. That probably isn't relevant to your blades, since they come from a CNC machine at a steel company, cutting much harder material than wood. One thing's for sure, you'll have plenty of material to work out a good heat treating process! :)

With that much material it might be worth having it analysed.Crucible has that service check it out.
