Hi all
Ive been playing around with those little knife blanks from Woodcraft and Jantz Supply. Im no metalsmith but I work with wood a lot and have been having a blast with the scales.
My question is how necessary the pins are in a small necker?
I use Desert Ironwood, Bloodwood, Maple and Black Walnut, not stabilized. The tang and wood is prepped with acetone and 80 or 100 grit sandpaper.
I tend to use S3 epoxies.
I did a Desert Ironwood handle with no pins and it seems to be holding up fine. My guess is that without batonning or heavy use the epoxy should hold up fine for a few years. I really like the way it looks without pins.
I did a search and found some info but.... We all like some special attention here and there.
Thanks
