Pins or new screws for BK2

I’m making micarta scales for my bk2. I’m not sure how to fit the nuts into the handle so I’d like to use pins or the screws that are like Chicago screws I’m not certain of the exact name. I need to know what size. I’ve seen 10/24 x5/8 but I’m not savvy enough to equate that with a size for pins. Any help greatly appreciated.

I don’t have micrometer. I’ll have to ask some friends. I was hoping someone would just know. I can’t be the only one changing handles on a bk2. I guess that is another question in and of itself but all the videos I see people using expoxy etc. I would like to be able to change out the scales from time to time. Like changing grips on a pistol. Is there a method that would have the scales stable but still removable? I’m not knife maker at this point just a curious knife lover who wants to learn.

If you want the original screws, you would need a BK-2 replacement handle scales set with the seats in them.
Corby bolts are used on new handles where they are ground flush in the finishing steps. You use a step drill or counterbore to make the seats. The counterbore needs to match the Corbies you choose.

You can make the new scales work with the original screws, or new ones, but would have to drill counterbores for the 10-32 screws. You could try a few holes on scrap woof or micarta and see if the standard size of .350" fits. I don't know if that is what Becker uses.

Use 10-32 stainless threads and a barrel nut like a Loveless style like I showed you the picture before, in another thread. It will be easier than dealing with the hex nut. You can glue that round cylinder nut into a bore
