One of my favorite patterns has to be the Remington bullet lockback pattern. R1303, R1306 etc. Queen hit a home run with their Mountain Man pattern, and really outdid themselves when they offered a slipjoint pattern. Several other companies produce a similar pattern, including Camillus, which reintroduced this pattern in the 80's and 90's, and the Ozark Hunter, made by Camillus for Cold Steel about ten or so years ago. One of my grails would have to be the Ohta made Remington lockback posted last year, or an original actual honest to God Remington lockback from the 20's/30's.
Several years ago, I came across a full size 23 single blade trapper from Great Eastern. A slipjoint, I considered carrying it, but didn't because of the bear trap springs. A couple months ago, I got a Missouri Trader lockback in a trade, and this knife filled the bill for a while. The Pioneer is bigger than the Remington lockbacks, and is based on the old 1123 pattern, rather than the Remington lockback. Still, I would like to see a lockback variation of the 23 single blade. My 23's are currently at GEC waiting to get the pull reduced, and I am hoping that they can be made useable. However, as if I didn't have enough knives already, I would like to see their rendition of the Remington lockback. The Pioneer single blade is the perfect opportunity.
