I grew up on Westerns, so way before the movie Patriot I wanted a Pipehawk. I even remember that Queequeg (in the 1956 version of Moby Dick) smoked a small pipehawk, I thought that was so cool. In my hippie days I would have loved to have been able to smoke my herb in a pipehawk. So, Ive wanted a Pipe Tomahawk for a while. Ive handled some beauties from Joe Szilaski, Daniel Winkler and others, but they were way beyond my budget. I couldnt find one I wanted to own and could afford until now.
A recent thread on the Axe, Tomahawk forum caught my attention

I knew I wouldnt put a kit together, I needed one finished. I contacted Tim from R.E. Davis (http://www.redaviscompany.com/edgedweapons.html) and asked him who might put on together for me? Tim suggested I call Steven Caudill (http://danielbooneofkentucky.com/) who buys a lot of heads from Tim and finishes them up. Steven is a fascinating guy, he plays Daniel Boone in reenactments, he uses and makes hawks and axes that are historically accurate. He sent me some pics of his work, (no website for hawks at the moment) gave me a price and I ordered a hawk..
It took me about 50 years, but I finally got my Pipe Tomahawk.
This ia fully functional pipe hawk, with a bone cleanout plug. The head is about 7 with 2 1/2 edge and very dark, (black). The handle is 21 of beautifully figured curly maple.
I am very happy with this Tomahawk.
Steven thank you for making it.
Tim, thanks for pointing me to Steven.
Thanks you all for looking.
