Really, what would be its intended purpose....slicing, veggie prep. I really just cant think of how it could out perform a real knife.

I am going to side with junk.

there are folks who use electric knives for slicing through turkey and roasts, and by their opinion. america's test kitchen's tests have shown it to be true. depends on what brand you wanna buy i guess.

It makes carving a deep fried turkey much more easier, especially if your "out laws" don't have a good knife set, LOL
There's not much out there in this price range, so I was curious to know what other folks thought of it??

So I took delivery of the knife, overall pretty happy, seems robust and the fit & finish is good for $30. Just waiting for the turkey now, LOL
