Pirela / Hall modular axe

I'm looking at getting a Pirela / Hall axe (either the LMAX or the DET-A) and was wondering if anyone has handled either model and can provide some feedback. Anything on the balance, durability, use in the field against doors or trees, etc.. Thanks in advance.

If you give Jeff Hall a shout he has a new digital sand camo colour in the works and possibly a new sheath design for the L-Max. The new colour is really neat.

I haven't used my L-Max but carry it in the car within reach.

I've used my LMAX on wood. It has a real good bite. Not as comfortable as an axe built for the job, but much more fun! The handle is not as uncomfortable as it looks and it doesn't twist as much as one might think with a round handle. Crappy "sheath" though.

Hey Jeff. Do you do any without the holes or possible smaller holes? I love your axes and i will be getting them in the near future but I get this irritating feeling that the holes weaken the axes.
