Pistol lockbox/carrying case

I'm going to get my first pistol soon and need to know what some respected cases/lockboxes are... any suggestions? I don't know if biometric locks are just a gimmick or if they actually work.

For the case, I just need something to take it to and from ranges.

A decent range bag is a good idea. If your only planning on useing it at the range keep it in its original box, most come with a lock these days, the gun, not the box.
If its to be a personal/Home protection weapon then a locked box doesn't make a lot of sense. A locked up weapon is useless.
Don.t know what your situation is, I don't have kids here so I have guns all over the place and they are all loaded.
