"pit" rust on carbon blade

OK so today my m-10 bayonet arrived in the mail. Super happy with it, not a huge fan of the finish, or the metal bit inside the sheath, but that's ok cause I love this knife. Because of the finish and metal inside the sheath (like a friction type thing to keep the blade in place) I can understand how there's some scuffing and scratching of the finish. That's acceptable. But upon closer inspection, near the edge and also in the middle of the knife, there seems to be small "pits" which may or may not have been caused by rust.

Also near the hand guard/hilt it looks like an orange type discolouration. I'll get some pics up as soon as possible (within a day or two), but does this sound like rust at work? The main reason I'm asking is because I bought this new, and would prefer new blades to come in new condition.
