Anyone remember the knife from the movie Pitch Black? It was kindof a simplistic egyptian style knife. I wish I could find one of these somewhere. Even a cheap one made of crappy metal would be cool enough for hangin on the wall.

Do you mean that nasty looking thing that Riddick shaved his head with? (After lubricating with engine oil)? It was kind of triangular and had a jagged edge, sort of very oldfashioned serrations? If that is the one, then I have to say I've never seen anything like it anywhere. Fortunately. I would have thought a modern blade shape, with non-slip handle and decent steel would be far more dangerous, but it certainly was something a bit different. A collectors item if you were looking for something a bit off-centre.

Acolyte.

IFAIK the "knife" was a serrated bone shiv. I'm guessing its a custom jobby. I DO know that the knives in "Chronicles of Riddick" sold more than the storyboards on eBay (they looked rather hibben/kit raeish)...

If curved and serrated is your style then check out the various Spyderco blades. The models that come to mind are the Merlin (aimed at the nautical rope cutting market), the Harpy which makes a cameo in "Red Dragon" of Hannibal Lector fame (smaller than the Merlin) and the Civillian which was aimed at SD (biggest of the lot). All of them are of course very aggressive cutting knives not to mention cool looking.

Riddick had to knives. One was the bone the other (used to shave head) was a piece of scrap metal from the wreck. I am not sure what knife Johns had.

I believe I am thinking of the scrap metal piece. It had a crecent moon shape. Hopefully I don't have to wreck a space ship and make my own in order to find one. :)

Okay maybe this helps. This is what I'm looking for except in a fixed blade and maybe with a little more curve. I dont really care about the handle cause if I dont like it I will change it.

Ok, I think I found something you might like. The only real drawback is the price, it's a bit exorbitant for my taste. Follow this link:

http://www.szaboinc.com/index1.html

Then click on Edged in the column of tabs on the left side of the screen. Once you get there scroll down until you see the OMANI (it should be the 2nd or 3rd knife in the list). I think that is the style you want, but like I said $400, even for a Laci Szabo knife, is a lot of money.

Hope this helps! :)

About a year ago, there was a guy (from Canada, I think) on E-Bay that was selling a rubber prop knife from the movie Pitch Black. I didn't bid on it, but I did download the pics from the auction ad. If you want, I will send you the pics.

What do you think of this Mini Persian from Mineral Mountain Hatchet Works?

Yep that's pretty close too but I know nothing about that company or the knife and dont see blade material or anything like that listed. This is definately getting me on the right track though.

Mineral Mountain Hatchet Works is Ted Frizzell. "Over 20 years of development has gone into these knives. Meant for hard use. 1/4" 5160 high carbon steel. Deep hollow grinds and great geometry make these knives excel at cutting or chopping"

Here's one from Dervish knives - John Gonzales is a protege of Ted Frizzell.

If you scroll down a little farther on Szabo's sight you will see the OGRE. That is one scary looking curved blade! Not to mention MASSIVE.

Ladies and gentlemen... I believe we have a winner. THIS is almost exactly what I envisioned hanging on the wall. mmmmmmm :)

Im sure this is atleast a $500 knife unfortunatly :( . I wonder if I can get a similar design made in s30v... hmmm that would be nice...

Yep I think I really "need" this knife... just without the fancy art work on the blade... I like bare metal. you people are really corrupting me ... I keep finding new knives that I "need"!!!

S30V for a wall hanging knife? Thats very expensive stuph for something thats not seeing regular use. I'm sure you could get someone to machine that out of 420 at a reasonable price.
