That was cool. As much as I like the Bugaboos I love the little 5160 "necker".
What is the longest blade can you heat treat?coaldigger, thanks. I am glad you like the knife and the video and the sharpness of the knives I make.
When you are ready just let me know I should be here.
I was just looking at a knife making catolog that sells supplies to make knives.
For a 1" wide by 3/16" thick and 18" long piece of 0-1 steel is $13.95 add in the shipping $5 or $6. I can make 3 knives from one piece of steel in that 5.5" long range or so. that makes the steel about $6.67 roughly.
then using a couple of grinding belts $6
Use of a couple more grinding belts to do some smoothing up of the grinds. I will say $4. I say USE of because there are belts like the Trizac and the scotchbrite ones that you use over and over they are not one time use like some belts are.
Use of some Propane and Electric $3 maybe.
Kydex sheath about $5
That kind of gives you/me what it cost to make one up roughly.
Kind of cool.
Bryan
Thanks Bryan. That gives me some ideas.protourist, the longest I have done is 14" long for the blade length.
coaldigger, Ok I will keep a eye out for it.
