Today's hike was my idea of perfect, fresh snow on the ground, temps a few degrees below zero, distance just enough to give me a workout without killing me. If Mrs Pit could have joined me it would have been even better but you can't have everything eh !!!

Snicker all wrapped up and ready to go !

I think this is one of Maisy's favourite hikes as well !

Lot's of tracks around but the soft powdery snow made it hard to see detail.

I've posted this before but for any that missed it, I like to attach a duct tape parcel to some of my knife sheaths containg some PJB rolled in fatwood dust.I find that in bad weather these are easy to pull off and get a fire going quickly rather than opening your main kit up and getting the contents wet.

Here it is pulled off and opened up~

Thanks for the pics. Getting me excited for the first actual snow we will have seen all year that we are getting tomorrow.

Great pics as ever Mr Pit. That Christmas shot is just brilliant.

Glad to see the snow has finally come.

Thanks and stay warm.

great pics. I would love some more snow here. my daughter enjoys playing in it a lot and I get to practice making snow shelters. and who doesn't love sledding lol.

thanks for sharing sir.

Pitdog, great pics, that is a neat idea and way to carry tinder for a quick fire if needed.

Great idea with that fire kit. It is a pain digging in the pack for the firekit bag.

That park looks very nice!

Is it difficult to peel the duct tape away from itself? I imagine if your hands are very cold it would be tough. Really dig the idea of fat wood dust. I'm going to do that to all of my cotton balls now. Awesome pics! Thanks for sharing!

Nice winter shots, pitdog. My favourite:

Unfortunately, this year, we have had hardly any snow, which totally sucks. Enjoy it for me.

Yes it is buddy, I usually do this method on larger sheaths or at least ones without other stuff on. That way the duct tape is only in contact with the sheath and peels away very easily !

You must live pretty close to the park since that is your typical dog walk. Which trail is the one you normally take? Down by the water with the moored boats. Hill top vista.

There are some trail maps in the link.

I use most of the trails you linked. Sometimes going down to the Inlet as in this post, sometimes going up Mt Work and other times going up high along the Timberman trail....just to name a few.

Cool photos bro, looks really cold up there. I like the fire kit a lot, but looks a little cold to be going minimal.

amazing pics and great idea with the duct tape. i miss the snow up in ny. I now live in fl and was just at the beach today with the fam. crazy
