PITS Questions - just how good it it anyway?

I'm new to the Spyderco forum, but have basically been acquiring Chris Reeve knives the last few years. I've kept coming across mentions of the new PITS slipjoint and am very intrigued. The problem is, everything I read hasn't really made me know if I should pull the trigger and get one. The idea of a legal carry knife throughout most of Europe and elsewhere is very appealing and I can forego the lockup. And I have something of a fetish for titanium - just got a Fellhoelter Ti Bolt Pen and really like it.

So, coming off the Sebenza and Umnumzaan perspective, how would I feel about the PITS? Is the side to side play very small or non existent as with the CRK? Fit and finish looks very high in photos. I can get this knife at a price half what a CRK costs so I know it's unfair to demand it to be comparable, but how different is it in overall quality?

Thanks folks, hope someone can comment on this or point me to links that aren't the first few that pop up in Google.

I own both CRK large 21 insingo and PITS and many other Spyderco knives and the higher end spyderco's fit and finish is pretty much on par with the customs, the PITS is a wonderful little knife, it shares very similar knife shape and grind to the Slyze Bowie and comes with yummy M390 blade. It's an Italian beauty!

My has no blade play at all and the locking mechanism is very interesting and you can actually see the lock bar moving up and down, overall I am very impressed with the fit and finish and the ergos, only thing I don't like is the wire clip, it moves side to side a bit and that marks up the polished titanium handle.

There are a few youtube reviews you can watch.

love mine. no blade play at all, very stout construction, and very confident slip joint. and its n690co, not m390

My bad, ... How'd I get it wrong! Well.... I'll let the picture do the talking

If you can't carry a slyze Bowie the this one is a must!

Ha, the PITS actually won out against the SB for me. Kept the PITS and sold the SB.

The PITS is definitely one of my favorite knives. Unfortunately car problems means it'll be going up for sale here soon... :(

I also got a PITS recently and I can echo what most reviews are saying about it. I really like this knife, minus the scuff marks the pocket clip leaves on the scales...but hey, it's just a knife right? :)

FriarPhenn - sorry to hear about the car problems. Best of luck with that.
