Hi guys, new member, longtime lurker.
I got this Terava JP110 back in March of 2020. Once the forge scale wore away, I noticed a sort of pock mark in the face.
I ignored it at first, but as time has gone on I've worried more about whether it might indicate some weakness in the steel.
I emailed Terava/ Varusteleka, they said they'd never seen anything like it and sent me a replacement. I am, however, still curious. Was hoping some of the experts here might have some insight.
Thanks for taking the time to read.

It looks to me like it was an inclusion that chipped out. It likely won’t get any worse and won’t effect the performance. Other than collecting crud.

The replacement was obviously the best possible outcome.

Do you still have the old one? If so clean the hole good with a solvent then pack it with JB WELD. File it smooth and it will last a lifetime.

Just realized it’s a scandi ground blade. Your micro bevel is turning into a mega bevel. Sharpening properly will likely make a big difference too.

Thanks very much!
I'd considered doing just that with the JB Weld, will give it a go.
And yes, that blade has had a lot of living in just a year's time lol- twice now I've started to take it to a zero scandi, gotten tired of grinding on 80 grit, and just taken a few swipes on my Norton combo stone to reset a bevel.
Then I started experimenting with freehand sharpening with me DC3, and stropping obsessively (calms my PTSD for some reason) so it's turning into a mega-scandi-kinda-vex lol.

Thanks again!
