Guess Pittsburgh's been really humid lately, or it's just my house. I recently (today) noticed that my BM tool box (blue box) was completely rusted out. All except the plastic and chrome parts that is. My old Jag was also rusting! Son of a ... Luckily none of my other knives have had any problem. So, does anybody know if Tuf Cloth will help prevent rusting? I'd use oil, but I don't want oil streaks along my walls and ceilings... a problem you can only have with balisongs

I highly recomend the Tuff Cloth! It's a great investment. The best bang for the buck however would be the Knife & Tool Care Kit from Sentry Solutions, it comes with the Tuff cloth, Tuff Glide lube-in-a-pen, a sharpening kit that can even be used on serrated blades, and some High Quality Q-tips

all in a neat little velcro travel case. About 20 to 25 bucks. Or you can go to your nearest firearm dealer and pick up a gun cloth for a couple of bucks.

"SHOW ME THE BALI!!!"

You could try to store your knives in a plastic shoe box that they sell for about a dollar at most discount stores.

Before stainless rusting was a big problem. The biggest problem comes from salt, so the metal well rust from finger prints, sense there is salt on people hands.

The problem with stainless, is that it just does not take an edge or hold it as good as high carbon steal does. About the only way you can get a good edge on stainless, is if it's razor thin. Thanks, JohnR7

I've been storing the Jag in a heavy weight hunting/ammo box (not sure if it is air tight). Didn't seem to help. Does everybody here oil their balisongs they way you oil your regular knives?

Penguin, got the same problem as I'm about 1 hr s.w. of you. maint. is the trick, oil , polish, and a little trick I found. I store my knives in a wood chest, but you know those little bags of silicon you get with some products, don't throw them away, throw them in with your knives;) they help keep the moisture down.

I know this is a little OT for this thread, but the weather in the UK is pretty odd right now. We've been having a serious thunderstorm which has so far lasted 8 hours. I don't mind too much, but theres always the possibility of a power outage which means I could loose my access to the forums for an hour of 2! Scary huh? ;o)

Weather eh? Who needs it....

Dude.. Sick as it may sound.. I really MISS the nasty Pgh weather.. :) its a shame we didnt get to exchange notes as much - and I really woudl have LOVED to see Dobruski #13.. (fave number :p)
