Just wondering what you guys think about pivot pins? Ive been working with 6mm in some smaller size folders but in a larger tactical folder do you see any reason to go larger to 8mm or even 10mm?
Do any of you prefer to make your own pins by machineing or just get off the shelf type of stuff?
Ive seen a few arguments against using screws with torx heads because its harder to find the driver as comepared to allen head in the field but lately Ive seen a few different set ups that looked even more complecated. what do you guys think?

I guess it would help if I spelled Pivot correctly on my first forum search and the post title. I would still like to hear some of the Ideas here.

I've used both pivot pins with hex head and the newer torx and had little trouble with either. I do like the idea of some of the ones like Ernie Emerson uses that are flat head screws that can be adjusted with a SAK screw driver or a multi tool but I've not seen those for sale anywhere that I recall.

Most of the ones I use are 3/16" stainless. On occassion I'll use a 1/8" and rarely have I used anything bigger than these two. I think I've made one folder with a 1/4" pivot but it was larger one which I have not made again since.
