Well thanks to Josh I have just finished the "rebuild" on my Buck/Strider full size spear point. Now the thing is I can't get the pivot adjusted correctly. I have taken the knife apart several times before with no undo grief as to getting it back together with the pivot adjusted correctly.

The thing that is happening now is that the blade is rubbing the liner lock. Seems no matter which way I adjust it. I thought before I took it apart that I had the left side pivot screw torqued down to bottom and then the right side pivot screw I used as the adjustment screw to center the blade and such. Anyhow getting frustrated with it and am asking guidance in this matter before I smash the s.o.b. with a hammer! Anywho any and all info is appreciated. Keepem sharp

Longbow,
When you say Old school, do you mean the rough G-10 and old washer set-up version? If so, I can send you the new washer sets that I incorporated into the redesign. The old style was prone to doing what you are describing. Did you rebend the liner at all to have more bend? The overbend tends to push the blade to the case when closed also. If you wish, you can send it in to me, and I'll get it rebuilt for you. Drop me a line at jhubbard@buckknives.com if you wish. We will get this back together without the hammer :)

Well I did it. I belive I have the pivot adjusted just the way it should be adjusted. Don't know why now it worked after umpteen times taking the knife apart but now it seems to be right where it should be in terms of opening and closing. Very smooth and stable. Knife blade doesn't hit the locking side of the liner and this is wierd but tightening the pivot screws down pretty snug doesn't effect the smoothness of opening the knife at all. Makes it slower to swing but no effect on smoothness. Go figure.

I think the answer lies in the way I assembled the knife this time. I didn't snug down any of the screws holding the new scales on until I snugged down the pivot screws a bit. Then I did the pivot screws and the screws for the scales in succession, you know a little on the pivot(s) and then the scale screws. Seemed to work. I also have this thing sharp as hell to boot. It is a helluva of a sharpened pry bar type of knife and just about bullett proof.

The new scales make all the difference in the world to me on gripping and just holding it. I have severe carpal in both hands and the texturing on the scales gives a good grip for my non feeling challenged hands. I carry a mini style when I am working and the thing has cut up more crap and what not than about any other knife I have owned and like its big brother it is sharp as hell and stays that way. keepem sharp
