If I hold my Umnumzaan with the blade not fully opened(lockbar not engaged) there is play in the pivot. You can feel the gap between the pivot and the pivot hole in the blade. Has anyone else had this experience? Pardon me for nit picking, but this blade wasn't cheap.

I would take the knife apart and make sure it's not something else. You can dry-fit the pivot sleeve screw in the blade. It would be very unusual for the pivot and the hole in the blade not to match. CRK makes lots of goof-ups in the course of a year, but I don't think this is one of the more likely ones, however it is possible. i'd take it apart and have a look-see.

Some "play" is normal, if there wasn't any clearance at the pivot your knife would just seize up or the parts would grate and then seize up. :)

I understand that. The amount isn't excessive, but it's more than my ZTs(which cost a lot less). I can't feel any movement on my 0770CF.

You can just send it back to CRK if you feel there is a probelm that will stop the knife performing as intended. :)

The 777 and Umnumzaan are different knives made by different people. I know which of the two I have more confidence in. ;)

That shouldn't happen. When it's happened to me after cleaning a CRK, I take the knife back apart, then reassemble it carefully - making sure that all screws are tightened evenly and the washers are aligned correctly. Usually it corrects itself, but if it doesn't then a trip to the shop is warranted.
