Pivot pin exposed

I've noticed that the pivot pin on my 25 sheepfoot barlow is no longer flush . I can easily see it as well as feel it . Can I sand it down flush ? I noticed it soon after I lowered the kick a bit . Is that connected? Probably dropped it a few times too.

Probably just worked loose a bit with the motion of lowering the kick and the trauma of dropping it. I'd re-peen it rather than sand it, then polish it flush.

Edited to add; I've lots of 25s - and I've not had that happen with any of mine, you must have boshed it quite a bit, they're notoriously robust. :P

Is it proud of the bolster, or sunk?

I don't think I would imagine a direct correlation between lowering the kick and the pin becoming exposed, but who knows? Pins becoming exposed usually are a result of side-to-side blade stress, or possibly blade opening with little or no lube where the blade can actually grab the pin and move it, but that is pretty extreme.

The dropping could have also had something to do with it. If you were to drop it on the closed blade, that could put a very small bend in the pin, and then the process of opening and closing the knife could make the pin move.

Typically sunk pins are hard to do permanent fixes on, as they will eventually work loose again.

Pics?

Thanks for your responses. The pull was pretty stiff so I left it half open for a few weeks , carried it week or so ( probably dropped it once or so ) decided to lower the kick and probably drop once or so more . Noticed proud pin.
As suggested, I peened the pin flush but have not polished. The pull is stiffer but I'll consider it fixed .
