I read somewhere that one can tighten the pivot pin as much or as little but still not affect the smoothness of the opening and closing of the blade. Is this true?

On the sebenza that I have, I can only turn the hex screw till the slightest bit of resistance on the threads. Any more and the blade seizes up and refuses to open. Is this normal? Will the pivot screw loosen over time? Will I need to do micro adjustments from time to time? From what I read on the FAQ, I can't put loctite or anything.

Other than that, I'm super happy with my sebbie.

Sounds like you have a washer that is not seated properly. Make sure that the washers are flush and are not getting pinched under the pivot sleeve or that the area around the washer is free of dirt or debris.

Yes very true. Your Sebbie has a problem.

What K.V. Collucci said. I suggest you take it apart and put it back together again using the offical CRK method

guys, thanks so much!

I took it apart, cleaned it up, then put in back again - I had a difficult time aligning the bushing, washes and putting the pivot pin back in. After trying for 15 minutes, I finally managed to do it. Tightened the screw real tight. Guess what? The blade swings in and out freely, like it should!!!

My sebbie is super super super smooth now (and I thought what I had before that was smooth) - it's like silk.

WOW!

and isn't that one of the things that make the Sebenza the best folding knife ever... :D:) (IMHO)
