pivot screw on tenacious

i am pretty new to the world of knives and loving it. i have several spydercos/benchmades. but on my tenacious(edc) my pivot screw keeps coming loose after a bit of playng with the knife, the blade starts to hang right of center. i have contacted spyderco and have been told to put loctite on the screw. i am willing to do so, but was wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

This happens occasionally on different models and usage. Nothing major.

I would highly recommend getting the medium strength (blue) loctite - and avoiding the strong (red) loctite as it creates too permanent a bond. My other recommendation is to be very very very judicious with your application - a little bit goes a long way on the pivot. You don't want any leaking out and gumming up the works with the knife blade itself.

I normally apply the loctite with the tip of a toothpick. Just a fraction of a drop smeared on the pivot screw will do it.

Thanks I feel better, I was just making sure that it wasn't a manufacturers defect on a particular knife

Yep, get yourself some blue loctite. I use it on most of my screws. Just good to know that they won't wiggle loose. As others have said, avoid red. It's way too strong.

This seems common. I leave a T6, T8 and T9 on my table next to the couch. I would loctite it but I like tweaking it too much. Also, if I want to disassemble then the loctite isn't an issue. My Endura 4 also has the same issue... which to me isn't an issue.

Had the exact same issue with mine after the first time I disassembled it for cleaning. A dab of blue loctite does the trick.

Nope not the manufacturer, just the screw itself. Most knives that don't come with loctite will loosen up eventually, if it happens to me often I will sit down and put a dab of the blue stuff and it is fine from then on. Just one of those maintenance things you may have to do here and there.
