Hello all! I have an issue with a pivot screw and was looking for some advice.

I picked up a Southard Tolk folder and it has a stripped head pivot screw. I have tried reaching out to Brad via several different methods over the last few months (site email, twitter message, and the email address on facebook) with no response. I have no problem paying for it to be fixed as I really like the knife. Does anyone know of a way to get in touch with him or a way to fix the pivot?

Thanks!

While I don't have a rock solid, definitive answer for you,
I do have a few suggestions which I think could work.
This is based on my personal research and actual experience.

Japanese outfits turn out some of the best tools in the world,
no surprise..
Among them are the

ENGINEER PZ-58 Screw Removal Pliers Extractor Pliers,

and its little brother the PZ57.

These pliers are designed specifically for one purpose - to remove damaged
screws which seem impossible to remove.

Another closely related company (no one I know can tell the difference
between them) is Neji-Saurus, whose product offerings seem to be
identical to the Engineer.

Good news for you - I just looked these up to be sure they're still
made, and they are. And the prices have been significantly reduced.

Rather than having to buy them on a Japanese tools site and wait
2 months for (expensive) shipping, they're available now at about
half what I paid some years ago! And they're available at Amazon.

Still made in Japan!

Please allow me to give you some links, so you can see if these
might work for your situation, what they look like, pricing etc.
