pivot screw setting

If i tighten the the pivot screw to the point that the washers are properly pressed against the blade, opening the blade either with my thumb or wave becomes tough. Loosening the screw helps, but then there is a visible gap between the blade and the washers. So which setting should i go for? If the screw is on tight and the washers flat, would it loosen in time if i continually open and close it?

All the ones iv just checked are about spot on when the washers sit flat. if there is a gap the blade is too loose for me.
Is it a new knife or has it had a bit of wear in time ?

The obvious sugestion would be to take it apart, clean and loob it to see if that helps. If it dosnt it could be the liners or a duff set of washers or something ?

its fairly new and i dont really play with it. i've cleaned out the knife of all crud and such and it was when i was putting it all back together that i had trouble figuring out how tight it needs to be.

It needs a couple of thousands of openings, and a handfull of cleanings before things will be really smooth and tight.
You need to play it more :D:thumbup:
