They arrived an hour or so ago. And I'm in total awe.

The Emerson fixed blade tanto neck knife is a pleasure to handle. It's razor sharp, balances beautifully, and I'm very proud to own it.

The Ryan Model 1 is simply...pure magic. I new that it was BIG, but I had no idea that it would feel so perfect and function so smoothly. This piece glides open with minimal effort, yet locks like a vault door. Fit and finish are exemplary. The satin blade is breathtaking. How the hell Steve Ryan gets a chisel grind so razor sharp is an absolute mystery to me. I love this piece.

Despite it's awesome size, it actually rides incredibly well in the front pocket of my jeans, or inside my waistband. This is a new clip design/location for the Ryan 1, and it's very user friendly.

The minty 98 Commander in these pics belongs to my buddy Larry Brahms, and is shown for size comparison purposes. Larry's 98 is slick as glass and a pure pleasure to behold. Larry, thank you so very much for acquiring this Ryan #1 and Emerson fixed tanto for me. You are without a doubt one of the finest individuals I've ever known, and I'm very proud to call you my friend. :)

Thank you to the several Suspects who sent me such kind e-mail with pics and comments of their personal Ryans. There doesn't seem to be too many out there, but they're certainly in good capable hands. :)

Biohazard is a good term!!!!!

My godness! If I pull that in my office I think in consider sexual abuse!

I love those Ryans!!!!!

Maybe I should start another trend! (trying to decide between Ryan or Brend)

Eric, are you in Miami???

regards

No Joel, I'm in Southern Cali. Larry just sent his 98 along for the ride because he swore that his 98 was the slickest ever. And now I believe him! :)

Hey fellas, here's a few more pics that I just posted over in the Custom Forum if anyone is interested.
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=165748

I'll take some more pics and post them here and over on the Custom Forum along with further impressions tomorrow. Dinner is ready, and then I'm going to spend some quality time with this Model 1. :)

Sweeet Eric- Nice one. You gotta love that model 1.

Nice knife!;)

Also, very nice pics. They will be a good memento of the good ole times...sniff.:(

Enjoy Eric. The new clip design on the 1 is sensational. Ryan's vision, not to mention his craftmanship is unique. That is a keeper for sure.

Man! Awesome! I can't wait until October! I'm hoping Steve will be able to take orders then!

Eric

Congrats.....awesome looking folder :D

jackstraw

Clip! What great attention to detail!

Hey Eric!

Awesome pictures, awesome knives :)

Any possibility of you posting any in higher resolutions? suitable for my desktop? :) that'd be AWESOME!!

Pleeeease! ;)

Nice knife, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of either one!

Does Ryan have a website or can someone send me some information on how I can request a catalog, I am in the market for a unique piece and think Ryan's work is right up my alley. Thanks.

WOW!! That Ryan is nice! Obviously it's designed for self defense use. The blade configuration doesn't look like it would be very utility friendly.

And I thought the Commander's blade was difficult to sharpen:eek: !

Hey all. Remember, there are a lot of good Rayn pics here http://www.yamashita.org/ryan_go.htm . I think the software will edit the name, so the asterisks should be s-h-i-t. It is in japanese, but when you put your cursor over the images, the text bar at the bottom of your screen reads in english. The whole site is pretty need, you just have fish your way around. There are several Ryan pages. Check out the Titanium handles!

The most expensive Ryan on the site is Y78,000 (yen), which is $652.00 today. Not as much as I expected.

Joel, the term "Biohazard" becomes obvious to me after having carried this Ryan all day long today. I love this thing!

(I'll post some pics later this evening of my Ryan M1 with a Diamondback Rattlesnake)

Donald, thank you for your Ryan pics! I will send the shot you requested right away, and I have a pic request of my own that you'll find in the forthcoming e-mail. :)

Kublai,....I cannot thank you enough. If it's any consolation at all, just please realize that this piece has a good home and it will never leave my care. :)

Aphthartos, this indeed seems to me to be the ultimate tactical fighting folder. I don't see how it can be beaten as a personal defensive blade.

laserman 1, awesome indeed. I can't quit admiring this piece.

Alan, (jackstraw), your e-mail correspondence is greatly appreciated, as were the pics of your Ryans. Thank you!

Dirk, I've heard two different stories pertaining to Steve taking new orders this October. The below contact information for Steve is your best bet at getting a real answer. Please let us know if the October rumor is true.

Hilton, thank you! The new clip design/location is just incredible. The clip instinctually secures itself when slipping into a pocket or waistband. It's nearly magical. Better yet, when handling this piece you never even realize that the clip exists.

Jonas, I will be taking some pics of this Ryan along with a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake within the next hour or so. I'll post a few here, and I'll be sure to e-mail you the full resolutions. :)

Mac Attack, Steve Ryan doens't have a website, but rumor has it that he will begin taking orders again beginning this October. The latest contact info that I have for Steve is this:
Steve Ryan can be contacted at PO Box 30504, Long Beach, CA 90853. His email address is ryansassy1@aol.com; his catalog is $2.

Brigadier, what's "utility"?? :D
Seriously, I wouldn't want to sharpen this piece either. I will carry it daily, but I have no intention of using it for anything other than....Biohazards of the most extreme kind. :)

Scott, the yamash-i-t-a site does have wonderful pics, and the prices from yen to american dollars are indeed attractive, but you must realize that there's a fairly extreme waiting period involved. Real world prices for Ryans are pretty much double what they advertise IF you can locate one. Sad but true.

I'm off to take some pics. They'll be posted here momentarily. :)

Thanks for all of the replies to this post, guys! The e-mails will all be answered shortly. :)

Okay, here's a few new pix that I just took a few minutes ago. The Rattler looks a bit stiff because he is! He has been in the freezer ever since I popped him in the head with my Glock 23. :)
