Battle knives for those formal black tie occasions! Difference between Chaindadi and Chainpuri? No idea! Maybe the pana butta grip?

Chitlangi has two fullers.

BTW, I think it is chainpuri, not chaindadi.

Maybe there is a chaindadi though, there are zillions of kinds of khuks and appareantly zillions of local dialects.

If I remember right, chainpuri refers to the larger, bell shaped butt of the handle. So I guess, one could say that a chitlangi is a double-fullered chainpuri.

That's what I thought at first, but I don't think so. Take a look at the bottom pic. It has a chiruwa style handle, and silver metal all the way around, and a Chitlangi style buttcap. It's a Chitlangi with a Chiruwa handle and silver metal. Never seen one before, and now I need to ask Uncle Bill if this is something that can still be had!

Thanks,

Norm

Here is the original picture from bill's if it helps out.

Looks like you're the one that beat me to it, good job and good pics.

It seemed to have a more noticeable curve it it in that pic, how does it perform?

When I look at the two there are some very distinct differences between the Chaindadi and the Chainpuri. First, the blade width of the Chaindadi is significantly wider than a Chainpuri. Second, the bell at the end of the handle is like a Chitlangi with metal covering the end whereas the Chainpuri has only the brass keeper. Third, the sheath of the Chaindadi looks exactly like a Chitlangi sheath with the raised peak along its' length. The chaindadi also has some distinct differences from the Chitlangi. The first is that the Chaindadi blade has a much more significant drop than the Chitlangi, more along what you would find in a Chainpuri blade. Next, the Chaindadi blade does not have any distinct fullers like the distinct double fullers on the Chitlangi blade. And third, the Chaindadi blade appears to be wider than the Chitlangi blade which is significantly wider than the Chainpuri blade. To me, the Chaindadi blade appears to incorporate features of both the Chitlangi and the Chainpuri but is a style of its own, different from both the other two.
