Pizzin in the Wind

I read this forum for two reasons:

1. To see if Bill is still alive.
2. Because it's entertaining.

It's always a pleasure to see a positive result from reason 1.

And with all the recent postings on Politics, Patriotism, and War, I have not been disappointed with reason 2.

It's always amazing how people think that their personal opinions are important and matter, when really, in the larger scheme of things it's all just pizzing in the wind.

I spent most of my life pizzin in the wind. So I moved to a place where the wind gets up to 150 MPH every now and then.

I have been trying to better my trajectory and make other things bigger... They sell stuff to help out with that. My hotmail account is overloaded with ads.

I want to make billboards in the snow.

I knew you would get in on this one. You didn't disappoint me one bit. I think your one liners get better with practice. Thanks for the humor.:) :D

Thanks. I actually just type stuff and some folks think it's funny. I'm not sure why sometimes. I like munk's posts. He sounds like a street philospher, not like one of those university coffee shop guys. A guy who came to some conclusions by observing life and maybe getting hit in the head a few times. :D Not like the guys who form opinions from listening to some guy in school.

Just like the old song.

"The answer, my friend, is pizzin in the wind..."

Faithfully yours from upwind,

S.

At least someone here has heard my kind of music: folk.

From the Weavers ( Pete Seeger's band before he went out on his own ) who were the only group in music to be blacklisted during the McCarthy era, to Kingston Trio and Peter, Paul, and Mary and beyond.

And listening to bagpipes and Irish folk and then being amazed when you recognise ties to hillbilly, bluegrass, and Virginia reels.

Time for my medication, but think on this. Did anyone else ever notice the downturn in the popularity of the banjo and the rise of the f-hole style guitar to take it's place during the depression era?

The banjo's bright sound became inappropriate to the mood of the times, and the flat top round hole guitar was insufficient to put out the volume to take the banjo's place on the unamplified concert stage. Hence the development of the arched front and back of the guitar and the f-hole style to increase the volume.

PS: just threw that in for those about to turn in - who will now lay awake trying to remember stuff they used to know and can't remember now to save their lives. Mean ainnit? :p :D

I don't buy it. My opinion matters....to me. ;) I think most, if not all, of the posters on HI feel their opinions matter. It's called self esteem.

But if it is all just "pizzin in the wind", then isn't even life the same? We live, eat, reproduce and die. Does any of it really matter if you hold to the belief that it is all "pizzin in the wind". I don't subscribe to that type of thinking. Life matters, my opinion matters, my loved ones matter and I matter. IMHO, to think otherwise is blasphemy.

Spence-- that's too weird. That's exactly what popped into my head when I read the title of this thread.

Bruise, the feeling's mutual. Your one liners are good because they hurt no one and are simply elegant. I am envious and a little mystified.

You once asked about petrified wood. If you would email me with your address I would like to send you some, if you care about that stuff.

and yes, I've been hit in the head, never knocked out- unless you count pavement. In college I disliked parlour room types and they felt the same about me. I was one of them- who'd left and would have never made it there anyway.

if you want wisdom, though, listen to guys like Walosi and Yvsa. (Where's that Frog been of late?) Semper Fi can be pretty sharp also, though if I tried to act like him I'd be serving time in Deer Lodge State Pen. It's funny heh; I can't be Bruise with his unique one liners and if I tried too much Semper Fi I'd be jailed. We each do what we do.

.. ....

Rusty; Folk Music? Ever heard Bok, Muir, and Trickett? Kate Wolf? Townes Van Zandt? Gillian Welch? Now, I just know you've heard Ramblin Jack Elliot.

That's what makes each of us unique. We each have our own nature. ;)
