Hi all,
I have been working with Paul Letourneau (maker of the Subterfuge) to design my first knife. I call it PK4 or Prepper Knife 4. I wanted to get some input on the knife as we are finishing up the first 5. A little bit about the knife...
I am a prepper and I have been looking everywhere for a every day carry, stainless, fixed blade, that can work as a stand alone survival blade or concealable protection. Esse Izula blade was too small. Esee 3 was a good size but overall too small of a blade. Everything else seemed to be too big, too small, wrong steel or a design I just didn't like. Finally I found a blade I liked! The Subterfuge by Paul Letourneau. Huge blade length and a stout feel without sacrificing too much of the overall blade and handle length. Paul's blade was featured in blade magazine and is an absolute beautiful design.
Being a prepper I noticed a few things that I needed to change to the knife. First the rear of the handle needed more registration in the hand for times where the blade may have to become a personal protection tool. Second, the handles needed to be removed so that I could wear the blade as a neck knife. Third, every prepper loves paracord and I am no exception here. Skeletonized handle allows for a nice para-wrap. Lastly, with the detachable belt clip the blade can transform between a neck knife to a belt or pack knife. And now the Specs...
Stats:
Steel: S35VN
OAL: 7.75"
Blade: 3.9375"
Maximum Thickness: 0.15625"
Scales: Micarta or G10 (removable)
Handle: skeletonized for paracord wrapping
Grind: Hollow grind
Sheath: Kydex with detachable belt clip
Special Features: Milled in blood groove, Stone Wash Finish
We plan on launching the knife on our new website (Website and pricing info removed per the forum rules). As far as price we are thinking about XXXXXX but this may change slightly depending on a few variables. Please leave your comments, suggestions and let me know what you think!
