Don't have a P'kal, so I can't say for certain that you're wrong about it being T-8, but Spyderco most definitely uses T-9 screws on some of their knives, including many of those with wire clips, so I wouldn't be surprised if you' are. The clip screw on my Manix 2 Lightweight takes a T-9 Wiha bit, as well as a T-9 Home Depot Husky bit and a T-9 Lowe's Kobalt bit.The pivot size is a T8. Almost no one uses odd number torx sizes - sometimes you have to use a larger size as the screw or bit wears. Or most of the time people use junk bits from local hardware stores that aren't very precise.
I personally recommend Wiha bits.
