Thanks

Most companies that do any kind of production sheat metal work will have a lazer cutting system. Getting them to do a small run of knife blades may be a problem.
Also consider water jet cutting. You should be able to find both in the Thomas Register,www.ThomasRegister.com

Water-jet cutting offers an alternative to laser cutting.
The last time I talked to Admiral, they needed a minimum 6" wide sheet for their machine.
Hydratech Industries in Redmond, Oregon cuts knives out of any size or type steel, and they will do a one off knife or a couple of hundred.
They quoted me $70 for a one-time 18" prototype sword, and an average of $2.50 for a typical fixed-blade blank in larger runs.
Total cost for a folder, including scales, liners, blade and springs (everything except the screws) runs under $15 per knife.
I talked to Jim, and he treated me very nicely and has given me much more of his time and expertise than a $70 order would warrant.
He also helped me get my CADD drawings in order.
If you don't have CADD capability, he can have your hand drawn knife scanned and converted into a drawing his water-jet machine can use, for an additional fee.
Warning! You'll get exactly what you draw.
I like the fact that he can cut 1/16" pin holes and, with a water-jet, the steel does not surface harden.
I would consider converting hand drawings into CADD drawings, if anyone has an interest.
