I am interested in production knives. Any knife companies or retailers on the web take layaways?

I know AZCK does layaway on customs, not sure about production stuff, though. They only carry a few production knives anyway...

This is a rumor only, but I heard that Chris Reeves will let you pay while you wait for a knife.

Maybe a good way to get a Sebenza, huh??

Your suggestion is very interesting. Never done it but I don't see why it would not work. I think terms should have to be agreed to up front, like price of the knife and shipping cost, 10% down, 30, 60, or 90 days to pay depending on how expensive a knife it is, knife shipped when full amount paid. If full payment not received by deadline then funds kept and knife not shipped.

I called a couple of local stores and that is how their layaway works.

The place where I thought a lay away plan would work was on the more expensive knives - Chris Reeves and Mission Knife and Tool and similar lines.

My thought was that many people have ~$150 to spend on a Benchmade, Spyderco, etc. but, ~$300 or so for a higher end knife was always just out of reach. Practical experience showed that people who genuinely wanted a CRK One Piece (NIB from a dealer) or Mission MPF would walk up and start counting the money from their billfold.

Anybody else have experience or thought about lay away plans?

Stay Sharp,
Sid

We also have a layaway program. You must put down 15% of the total cost for the deposit and pay for the knife in full within 28 days. If you back out of the deal or you decide not to go through with your purchase we keep 10% of the total purchase and refund you the rest! This will apply to all production and most customs! Thank you.
