Placing pocket clip on folder

Hey guys, what do you use to prevent the screws from stripping the hole out on a folding knife scale when attaching a pocket clip? I use a lot of softer scale material that would strip out easy, so just tapping it and attaching a clip wouldn’t work. Thanks

I’ve checked different knife making supply companies online and didn’t find anything. Do you know where I could find inserts that small?

Thread the clip and put the screws in from the back.

Another option is assuming you have liners and can position it correctly you can have a through hole in the scale and tap the liners for the clip.

If you tap a liner, the number of threads anchoring the clip (on each screw) = threads per inch X liner thickness. I have anchored pocket clips in Valox handles using #2X56TPI Helicoils which I obtain from Travers. The second picture shows a William Henry B-10 which has a pocket clip anchored in #0X80TPI Helicoils set in Carbon fiber.View attachment 1805090View attachment 1805091
