I'm looking to have some good "plain dark chocolate" delivered to a friend in the DC area, preferably as fast as possible (she's working on a project from home and certainly needs it).

Does anyone have a recommendation, either a local chocolatier or a good online service?

Check Williams-Sonoma top see if they will deliver one of the big bars of Valrhona. That is the best I have ever had and the choice of the vast majority of the top pastry chefs in France and elsewhere.

have mercy!!!!! if you eat some of that 70% Valrhona, you WILL see the Virgin Mary appear in your family room sliding glass door:p Get a few of the little metal boxes of the Guanaja 70% wafers and you will be able to bribe yourself into damn near anywhere. My ex in-laws' dachshund nearly took my leg off trying to get at those things...lol

My idea of perfection is the Valor 'Gran Valor' -milk chocolate, truffle, almond !!!!! Still can't get enthused about dark chocolate.

Thanks everyone.
I ended up going with some Valrhona from Chocosphere (a little cheaper than World Wide Chocolate).

Much thanks!

Just FYI, there are both Neihaus and Godiva Chocolatiers at the Union Station Mall, as I have discovered to my great pleasure and my diets loss since my agency moved next door to Union Station.

"Must not eat the chocolate. Must not eat the chocolate. If I do 15 kittens will die."

Just keep telling yourself that over and over and you'll get through the day.

:)

Thanks! I'll be sure to use this information next time I'm out.
