I got a plain edge Civillian when they first came out. It has just been sitting in its case since I bought. Recently, I thought about trying it out--just cutting some paper, boxes, etc..

I have not used the knife for anything as of yet, however, because when I tried to see how much a new plain edge Civillian would run me, I couldn't find any for sale. Was this a limited run knife...or am I not looking hard enough?

I bought mine for $150, but I'm guessing they go for more than that now. Does anybody know what the going price is?

I believe Spyderco's said they made about 300 of them, all during the aluminum-handled phase. They apparently were very hard to move, folks preferring the serrated model for the defensive intent of the knife... so Spyderco even ended up selling some plain-edge Civies to Polaroid for cutting rolls of film.

Now that they're somewhat of a rarity, you're correct that they are in greater demand. I can't speculate on the "going price," but higher than $150, for sure, if it's in good condition. Folks I know with plain-edge Civilians aren't inclined to part with them, and who would argue with someone holding that knife?

We found one at the Charlotte gun and knife show for $160,new condition.I didn`t buy it because I prefer serrations. The guy didn`t have a card, but I gave him The BF info and he`ll post it here if it doesn`t sell it this weekend.
Best I can do.
