Plain-edge Ladybugs?

They are sold in Japan. However, it appears that Larry @ www.bladeart.com has them (not listed on the website however)

The push for a plain edge Ladybug may be eclipsed by the new Jester knife, which is in production. Sort of like a Ladybug with new ergonomics and a Wegner Jr. blade shape.

Man, this sounds AWESOME! Are there any pics or sketches of the Jester out there?

I just got off the phone with Vince from BladeArt. I purchased their last pink PE LadyBug. Don't know how many of the other colors they had left. Cost me just under $29; a little steep, but not too much for a companion for my blue serrated one! Also got me a Greco Companion on closeout for a great price too, so it came out quite okay, IMO.

Dam this knife addiction coupled with modern phone communications and the EVIL CREDIT CARD!!!! :D

I researched getting these plain edge ladybugs and had posted the info below. BladeArt has ordered them from the shop in Japan and so you can pick them up there or order direct from the shop in Kobe yourself.
You know, when someone helps you, especially in business, and expects nothing else in return, it would be nice to get a "Thank you". That's a not too sublte hint Lary/Chess/Bladeart. Had you done so, you could have gotten a lot more valuable information and contacts over here for custom made Japanese knives etc.OK, so here is the scoop on the straight edge Ladybugs (tentoumushi in Japanese).
The shop I have been talking with is in Kobe, Japan. It’s called Ikariya (anchor store) and has been in business since the 50’s.
The shop owner has agreed to sell and ship these knives to the U.S. for $18.50 per knife plus $15.00 shipping and handling for up to 4 knives, so if you ordered 4, the cost would be $89.00 or $22.25 per knife. If you want more than 4, the shipping will go up. Unfortunately, if you want only one, the shipping is a bit prohibitive, but I can attest to the fact that shipping things from Japan is quite a lot more than shipping from the States to Japan. Same thing with calling, but now I’m rambling.
He can not accept a CC over the net, so it would have to be a money order only proposition. He told me that he has black, red, and green, but I’m pretty sure there are other colors available, unless they were discontinued. I thought I saw other colors, but they may have been with serrated edges or the ladybug 2. Sorry, I was in a hurry when initially checking.

The shop address is:
IKARIYA & ASSOCIATES,INC
4-1-1 Motomachido-ri Chuo-ku Kobe 650-0022 Japan
TEL:81-78-362-1112
FAX:81-78-362-1113
e-mail: ikariya@ikariya.com
web address: www.ikariya.com It’s 99.9% Japanese so if your computer isn’t set up to read it, you won’t see all the neat and cool little characters that are such a $#&* to memorize.

I would e-mail him first to find out if he has the knife you want in stock, and if he doesn’t, how long it would take to get it. Be patient with his English, and if you have any problems you can e-mail me direct.

and if you are just curious as to who the heck I am, you can visit my really old, hasn’t been updated this century web page about motorcycling in Japan. http://www.sanynet.ne.jp/~bullet/ShadowAce/page2.html
lots of broken links, but hey, I’m not paying for the server and they have kept it there for two years. I don’t have the bike anymore either.

Hope this helps to put a plain edge ladybug in your pocket.
