Plain edge, Partial serrations, or fully serrated?

Personally I like a partial for edc because it gives me more flexibility with what I can do and some knives just look better with the partial serration but I like all three. Just wanted to see what everyone else thinks.
 
Plain edge, or fully serrated for some specific tasks. Combo edge is a compromise that give me more headaches than utility. If it works for you, though, go for it.
 
I'm plain edge only. I don't need anything more than what a sharp blade will provide. Further, I think serrations make sharpening harder & most people don't do it well.
 
I'm a plain-edge convert, I liked partial previously but I've found that plain-edge works great (or well enough at least) for basically every task I've encountered that required a blade.

+1. I do not have, or have not learned of, a good mechanism to sharpen serrated blades well. The only place that I will use a serrated blade is on a ceramic plate to cut steak of other meat. Ceramic is many times harder than the hardest steel, and will bugger up an edge very fast. I guess if I did a lot of rock climbing, and might be in a position where I have to cut a rope in a life or death scenario, and if my carry knife had gotten dulled through use, this might be a place where I would carry a serrated knife. I agree with Insipid that the combo does not do either well.
 
Plain for two reasons.
First, it's just way more attractive :D

Second, I can not conceive of being in a single situation where a plain edge wouldn't get the job done.
 
Ahh another one of these Plain VS Partial Serrated VS Full Serrated threads. Like always I prefer my plain blades, works easier for the tasks I do. Though serrations do have their uses I just find it's generally more of a hindrance to me than it is useful in most tasks.
 
Plain edge, preferably. If I want serrations, I prefer full serrations. If I get a combo edge, it's cause it only comes that way(Kershaw Kuro, for example).
 
I prefer full serrations... on my hacksaw, but on a knife, no way! Plain edge is just more enjoyable to use, sharpen and look at.
 
Plain edge for me on my EDC folder or sak (of course) but on a multi-tool that I would carry at certain times, I prefer both for versatility!
 
Plain edge all the way for me. Fully serrated makes sense in some situations, like a H1 steel knife. Combo edges just aggravate me because the serrations are always getting caught.
 
I could cut rope with a plain edge. If a knife isn't plain edge then I'm not interested in buying it, but I will gladly accept a free knife with serrations.
 
I do own a fully serrated blade, spyderco matriarch 2.

I think serrations are very useful for those who can't put insane bevels of their own on a plain edge.

At an older job I had, the kitchen crew had no sharpening experience other than steel rods so the only knife they used was a serrated bread knife. Even though the edge has folded over and in my standard dull as crap, it still cut through things the other dull plain edges couldn't.

Learn to sharpen so you don't NEED serrations (unless your job or life depend on even dull sharpness like the climbing).
 
A fun 'cross-lock' or double ended folder would be a standard edge on one side and an equally sized serrated on the other. Is anyone at Spyderco game????
 
Well, I have the Endura and Tenacious in SE, and love them both. On the other hand, I am also enjoying my PE neck knives, and new Mora, and PM2. So I can see both sides. SE is great for things like tearing down boxes, for recycling, and lots of other simple tasks. But PE is always a good option to have. Sharpening isn't so hard with the Sharpmaker, so for me it isn't an issue. But I find myself moving slightly to PE more often.
 
i prefer plain edge. all my knives are plain edge except for the dragonfly2 which is fully serrated.
