so i was browsing the web and i came across this.

KS1660T.jpg

im intrigued but i would like to know more. it seems like the random leek only plain edged and a bit of a belly. but i can't find what steel or finish it has. can someone tell me? i may make it my next purchase.

As far as I know Slade, it's called a Tanto Leek, and I believe some of the more dishonest auction site sellers have used the confusion to their advantage. The knife you have pictured is the 1660T, the T being for Tanto. Nowhere on the packaging of the 1660T or on the knife itself does it have the word "random".

If I'm not mistaken, the only Leek that can be called a Random Leek is the S30V partially serrated model with the titanium coated handle, the 1660TGRYST. The Random Leek has a much higher MSRP than the Tanto Leek, and I believe this is why I've seen some sellers try to advertise Tanto Leeks as Random, hoping to fool someone into paying the higher price, or cause them to believe they are getting a great deal on an expensive knife.

Cheers,
Jonny

thanks guys, yeah i saw it on one of my favorite online dealer sites not on the bay so i trust them, they do say PE random leek and i wanted validation before i spend anything on it. well, it looks like i might be getting my first leek sometime soon. thanks for the info.

Not a sprint run as SV said, but still a very interesting variation on the Leek.

I have the original 1160 CT&K Random Leek. Coated handle and PE blade, black w/ S30V. Columbia Tool & Knife company. It was one of my first Leeks. But out of production.

I believe this is the original random leek. some kind of short run for CKT a few years ago. both plain edge and serrated were available. probably not too easy to find this version. 1660TCKT.

Yeah, that's the one.
I get dyslexic and get initials backwards a lot. I don't like combo edges, so I was glad when this model came in PE.

Thomas is there any chance that Kershaw will make a plane edge Random Leek with S30V? Please! :D:thumbup: A composite bladed Random would also be very nice.
