Looks like a blade swap job to me... I recall they did a very limited run with G10 handles and PE. This one is the riveted FRN model so I don't knowhow that blade got there.
The blade alone would be cool - just whack it into a G10 handle model, swap the blade out and sell the FRN one

It arrived yesterday. Knice knife.
I really like the choil on these knives (889SBMF and 882). Wish the 880 had a choil.
The FRN handle on this 882 is the same as the 889.
Got those terrible pyramid bumps...great for grip but hell when clipped in your front pocket and you gotta get past it for change or pocket pool. Like a cheese grater.
Maybe I'll put the blade in the 882 G-10 handle where I have a 889 blade now.
Checked with a source at Buck that said there were indeed a few of these 882 ATS-34 PE FRN with rivets made.
Attached, just for grins, is a flyer that came in the box. It certainly doesn't look like an official Buck doc (no copyright and typo).
