I'm trying to track down my first Civilian and would like the original al model (rare or what?). The question is: if I track down a plain edge model, should I snap it up? It would obviously be easier to sharpen, but are they super-rare and worth paying more for?? What about the rarity of plainedge G10 versions??

Plain Civilians are wery rare. Only 300??? were made. I've seen one lightly used for sale at 300$. Newer heard of plain g-10 civilians.

Hope this wery little helped.

I can only ditto the last post. Never heard of a G-10 in plain-edge (yet). They (G-10 models w/serrations) were produced long-after the plain-edge had been dropped from production.
I can tell you that I lucked-out about 1 1/2 yrs ago and happened upon a plain-edge NIB. I haven't seen many of them since!

some time back sal commented on the issue of g-10 plain civi's. (not a quote, from memory, but...) he said that the teeth better suited the intended function of the knife, and he had no intention to do plain edge at this time.

The Beak is correct at this time. Sales on the PlainEdge versions were very very poor when we did make the original aluminum version.
