Plain-Jane classic's. Why so rare?

Why is it that most classics seen on this forum tend to have inlays? Is it my imagination, or is the plain-Jane MM Classic a bit of a rare commodity. They are out there I know, but what gives?

Seems like Classic MM's in general aren't showing up much. I think people may be stashing them away in the hopes they will get Regular money down the road.

I have a pair of BG-42 Classics that I'm hanging onto just because I'd have such a hard time getting them again.

No inlays here! Took this pic a couple of minutes ago. It has been my main carry recently. Just got some priority boxes to ship to CRK for double lugs and silver hardware (along with a serrated small Seb I got from LW for the same among others).

I have a large classic that I got lnib about 2 years ago. A couple snail trails on it now I never use it. I have other

larges that are light users. Saving it while the value goes up a little.

I shouldn't have used it at all. I can't do that with a CRK...I'm not a collector.

They made the Regular longer than the Classic, but the main reason is that the inlays came out for the Classics and not the Regulars during that time.
Many loved the inlay idea and bought them that way, as I did the Micarta's in 2005, as opposed the buying the plain Ti model Classic.
When something new comes along, like the inlays in this case, that is usually when they will sell the hottest, and that time just happened to be when the Classics were being made.

Or at least I think that's why you see more plain Regulars than plain Classics:confused::p

My first Sebenza was a BG-42 UG Classic that I had bought long before I joined this site. Traded it in on a Busse soon after I joined here, and I still regret that trade.

I don't think they're really that rare, but you probably don't see them much because many people have newer models, and those are the ones that get talked about most on here. The classics got discussed plenty back in the day, but they're not as talked about now because they're basically the same as the 21, and if people are discussing/showing/etc older models, it's more likely to be the regular or Umfaan, since they're more desirable now.
