moose,

You've got to do better than that and you can start by defining your terms.

Set a size limit.

Set a price limit.

Let us know how many blades you want. (Single, double, three or more)

Stainless or carbon steel?

How will the knife be employed for the most part?

What kind of scale material? (Natural, synthetic etc)

If you want help, you have to help us to help you,

Now, give us some idea of what you are looking for.

My favorite the Buck 301.

Any plainer and it couldn't get a date! :D

of suggestions. no particular order
1)Case Medium Stockman in Yellow CV blades:thumbup:
2)Case Soddie Jr. in Yellow/CV
(not as versatile as the stockman being just 1 blade but awesome nonetheless)
3) An old Camillus or Schrade (ebay)
4) Rough Rider (china) makes some really nice knives especially at their price point, actually envious of my sons RR canoe, i dont have that pattern yet:(
5) Buck, even the imported bucks are nice
6) Victorinox, my son has quite the collection of these and im constatntly amazed by the quality for the price.
good luck

Second the vote for the Small Texas Jack.

Add the suggestion of a Vic Soldier with alox scales.
Also a Case Slimline Trapper, probably yellow Delrin & CV.

But as Blues said, it really depends on what you do with your knife.

My first thought just reading the title was a Case sodbuster, black and SS. or the junior in yeller and CV...

But I'm with blues, a little more criteria would be nice...

either a case sodbuster jr in whichever steel you prefer{cv} in whatever handle material you prefer{yellow} or a case medium stockman with, yep you guessed it yellow and cv. just really good users. nothing fancy but they get the job done.
