Plain, old EDC pic.....

Nice! There's nothing boring about a numbered regular Sebenza.

you're right, that is pretty plain and boring. Being the nice guy that i am, i'll gladly trade that for an ultra rare, super interesting, extremely customizable knife.

i'll include the pen free of charge and i'll even pay for the shipping fees

all of these oldies keep popping up, jealous of all of you :p where did you get this one?

Hi dtmbinb, you have some great knifes over there, since Im a fan of the regular shaped sebenzas, I like your nubmered 44 a lot. I do have a Large Regular nr.112 but I have no birth card . I would like to ask yoz whether you have the certificate, If you do, what type of steel is yours made of? I have done a little investigation regarding the steel and was told by Heather it could be the ATS34 or BG42, they have changed the steel during the making of the numbered regulars from ATS34 to BG42.

Thank you for any type of help :)

Best regards

I clicked in here again to see that #44 gem of yours. It's like gazing at fine art!

The closest I can determine is that they changed over to BG42 somewhere around #150. The less common, numbered graphic regulars vary however. I'm told (by an more esteemed colleague here) that Chris would pull the suitable slabs aside during the regular production runs, and work on the graphic designs later "in his free time". Those dates and steel types are not consistent with the regular production time line. #188 actually has a "B97" stamped into one slab, so it was done much later than the other #'d regulars.

speedy82 - is your #112 a plain slab or a graphic one?

and dtmbinb, there is nothing boring about either of those knives ;)

That is what I wanted to hear :) My one is a plain one without any decoration, it has a very fine hand finish on the blade just like yours, what we can see around the thmb stud.

OK so far we know mine is between the 44 and 150, so there is a big chance for it to be the ATS 34 steel, Im keeping this for sure:-)

To be an old EDC, that handle is in a lot better shape than both my small and large 21s that I've only been carrying for a few months now. Nary a mark on it. Mine have all kinds of marks in the titanium around the micarta inlays.

Before this thread falls into the depths of this subforum, I thought I'd post pictures of a knife I saw for sale recently which help identify the switchover point from ATS-34 to BG42 steel. Regular #151 was left-handed and manufactured on Feb. 25, 1997. I guess it would be safe to assume (I know I know) that after that date the blades "should" have been BG42 until Jan 2002. Note that during this time period CRK never really followed strictly linear production schedules, i.e. #151 may not have followed on the heels of #150, but it should be close.

Great score Steve!

ooooo, my bad Dan. :o This isn't mine but one I saw for sale a short while ago. Being an admitted CRK dork, I occasionally save pictures of significant knives for later reference. From now on, there'll be a disclosure. I did that with your '97 in another thread I too, now that I think of it. Sorry.

Steve, no worries. I keep photos of all kinds of good sebbies I find on the internet. Some great finds are out there.
