Plain or Serrated Edge for Emersons?

Which edge do you all prefer on your Emersons? Plain or serrated?

I have both plain edge and serrated. The serrated works better for certain cutting tasks than the plain edge. The plain is edge is much easier to sharpen and IMO, looks better. If I had to choose, i would choose plain edge.

Plain edge all the way. serration get in the way!

It all depends. I like plain edge for general utilitarian knife but a backup rescue knife with a combo edge works for me.

I never owned a serrated emerson. On the emerson site, most of the pictures of blades that look like they've been beaten to hell are partially serrated models.

I'm always looking for an excuse to buy another one, so a partially serrated 7 or mini commander are currently on my list.

My Emersons are a mixed bag of plain and serrated edges. I like the versatility the combo edge provides the use it gets in my work day.

In general, I prefer a plain edge, but there are times that a serrated blade comes in handy.

I prefer plain blades, serrations are hard to sharpen and don't work as well for the slicing tasks that I am usually doing

If you out in the middle on nowhere for a long period of time and you use your knife a lot and it becomes dull, than serrations will might come in handy if for some reason you need to cut something fast like a seat belt of rope. It’s a good option to have o a knife. It’s good for some jobs.

I generally get serrations on all my knives. They are the best at quickly separating matter, it isn't a clean cut, so if that matters to you go without.

With the thicker blade stock and grinds of most emersons I think serrations are the best choice. But if you are not a decent sharpener, go plain. Something with a recurve. Though a serrated recurve or hawkbill even are basically chainsaws

I think the plain edge looks better but i prefer combo. IMO serrations are pretty easy to sharpen... of you use a sharpmaker.....

I think it depends on the knife and blade shape.....my 7's and 16 are combo...my 10 and mini-8 are plain...

My horseman has a PS edge, my 7 is plain edge. My Emerson on order is a plain edge but the next one will have a PS edge. I like having options.
