I want to buy my first CR knife, a Sebenza, but my local shop only had the plain handle in stock so I couldn't compare it to the wood. Please advise.

You'll find that the plain is very handy and won't be as afraid to use it, though I have both and favour the wood handle, they do cost quite a bit more but I feel they are worth it.....depends on your usage, if you're diggin' a ditch in the pouring rain I'd opt for the plain one....

Depending on what you want it for i would opt for a plain first, then get a inlay. I have a small plain which i carry during the week and i love it. What ever you purchase i am sure you will not regret it. My only regret is that i do not have a inlay yet, that way i can have my dress knife for church. AHHH Gary, i think that is your cue to post that gorgous box elder inlay of yours. Oh man there i go foaming at the mouth just thinking of it. 8-P

I agree with Hermie. Get both. My wife asks me why I need so many knives and I ask her why she needs so many pairs of shoes. Try the plain first, that way if you don't like it (not very likely) you won't be out as much $$$. You won't be out of all of it because there is a decent resale market out there for Sebenzas. For the wood you may have a wait. I've had my order in for a small wood inlay since March. Delivery hopefully in a couple weeks, maybe first week in October per Bridget of CRK. After seeing all the picture of woodies (Thanks Gary, Rick, Dennis Wright and others for the pics!) I'm really looking forward to getting mine supposedly a curly maple burl. CRK knives are like Japanese motorcycles, it's darn near impossible to get a bad one.

Just like the Old TV Commercial says "Just one is not enough". Wood or plain no one will go away unhappy. They are both so far ahead of most other folders in the quality dept.that it will amaze you. You can't go wrong with a CRK product.
