plain/serrated?

hello,
Newbie here. I post quite a bit on archery forums and the discussion came up of the difference between a serrated blade broadhead or a plain edge broadhead and which would be more effective at cutting meat, bone, internal organs?
How about some feedback? Thanks...

Do you know the size of hole a broadhead puts in an animal? How could serrations make the slightest difference?

I am very familiar with wound channels made by broadheads. I was looking for real information. What's the deal? If you have the knowledge why not share it. Otherwise.... :footinmou

Yes, they make serrated broadheads, there has been lots of discussion in the past, including arguements both pro and con for them, including influencing wound size. A search can turn up lots of threads such as :

Ken Cook has made a number of such post so a search for his comments on broadheads would be a place to start.

I did a search as you suggested and gathered quite a bit of info. I'm not sure if I know anymore now than before but wanted to say THANKS again.

If you look at any old Indian(Native American for the PC among us) arrow heads, you'll find the edges scalloped. That's 'early serrated' don'tcha think? I know they had to 'chip' the stones which gave the scalloped shape, but I think they were on to something instead of just a straight edge..? Just my 2 cents.

That's the thing, Bladeforums is one of the largest collections of knife related info on the net, there are also a lot of dissenting opinions so it can take time to sift through them, if you are interested in knives at all, or just sharp things there is a lot of interesting reading and try to not feed the trolls.
